More about Nigel
Nigel Mason was born in Yorkshire in 1952. He showed an early interest in art and knew when he left school he wanted to be a painter. He taught himself to paint by copying old masters and his favorite paintings he saw in Leeds Art Gallery when he was a boy. The move to Devon in the ‘80s had a big influence on his painting and in 2000 he graduated with a degree in Fine Art. He lectured in Fine Art at Petroc College specialising in working from the life model but retired from teaching to pursue a professional painting career. He is now represented by a major publishing company and held in collections all around the world. Fleek Gallery is proud to show Nigel’s beautiful oils, charcoals, and pastels.
The Course: This one-day course will encompass everything from correct studio practice e.g. setting out a palette, brush care, colour mixing etc., through the process of making a painting e.g. sketching, underpainting, tonal work, to working from observation, producing sketches that will inform a finished canvas.
Much more information will be provided to guide and inform the participants throughout the course.

About North Devon
A slightly remote part of the county, with splendid access to Exmoor, vast Atlantic facing beaches, rugged cliffs and vigorous walks across the countryside. North Devon is famous for its coastline, activities and curious charm.
Ilfracombe is home to a number of independent galleries and of course Damien Hirsts statue Verity. This Victorian town still retains many features from that century as well as more contemporary buildings.
