Meet the Wine Makers – Alina
Alina studied Geography at Plymouth University, where she met Tony. Before becoming a vineyard owner, she travelled and worked in the UK and internationally, in business administration and event management and organisation. Her interests in the environmental sciences and horticulture led her to leave working behind a desk and do something that made her heart sing – working outside and growing things – and with a vineyard you get a bottle of wine for your efforts – win win!
Alina studied the principles of vine growing at Plumpton College, found a site for the vineyard and the rest is history. Alina is passionate about sustainability and soil health, has immersed herself in working on the land and spends most of her time in the vineyard, creating a place where viticulture and nature go hand-in-hand.

Tony
Tony is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, with a successful career in the oil and gas, water, marine, and Search and Rescue sectors, work that has taken him around the world. He led the development of the RNLI’s first Inshore Rescue Hovercraft, which is now an established part of the life-saving charity’s fleet. He also fondly remembers being one of the RNLI team that took on TV Channel 4’s Full Metal Challenge (World Champions) and a Scrapheap Mega Challenge (Winning team).
Now, it is North Devon and Venn Valley Vineyard that he calls home, and where his experience and skills are constantly in use on the design and build of the many projects they have embarked on at Venn Valley.
