The Harbour is ruled by Pirates!
Ilfracombe, with its harbour, cliffs and seafront is the perfect setting for a maritime themed festival, and this year sees us holding the 13th year of pirates and sea-dogs celebrating with us. Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival is our annual celebration of the town’s maritime history, coastal life and amazing Devon character.
This year’s festival is set to be the biggest one yet, with the hub of celebrations based in Ropery Road and spreading down to the harbour. Galleries, pubs, restaurants, eateries, stages, everyone is getting involved.
Expect an eclectic mix of music, with local and national acts and everything from rock and acoustic, to ska, dance, folk, and sea shanties of course. And sitting right alongside? There are seaside kitchens, stalls offering seafood and an array of other cuisines, local produce and more.
All of the events and activities are completely free – we do welcome donations though, drop a coin or two in the buckets when you see them please.
There’s plenty to do for the whole family. Pirates! There will be fishing, street entertainers, Punch & Judy, and much more. The Royal Marines will be running through the town, as part of their 80 year celebrations and you even have the chance to go dolphin or porpoise spotting!
