Family-Friendly Hotel
Staying at The Carlton means you can take advantage of our ideal location, quality modern bedrooms and great facilities. Rooms come complete with flat-screen TV, great WiFi connectivity and tiled bathrooms, some include adapted wet rooms. Family rooms are located to the rear of the property. We have family rooms that sleep up to four people, in a usual configuration of 1 double matrimonial bed and 2 full-size single beds or bunk beds. However, we also have extra beds and cots available (for a modest additional cost) to accommodate larger family groups and our wonderful team will be happy to address any particular needs you may have if they can.

North Devon is full of stunning beauty spots, coastal walks, outstanding beaches and more that are waiting to be explored. It goes without saying that a big draw of the Adventure Coast is messing about on the water and The Carlton has many award-winning beaches on the doorstep at nearby Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton. From Ilfracombe’s harbour, and nearby beaches, you can launch into activities that include kayaking, surfing and coasteering.

Right on The Carlton’s doorstep, Ilfracombe provides the ideal family friendly environment, with much to see and do within a short walking distance, from secret coves to the quirky museum and crazy golf. Do the kids love animals? Why not visit a local farm, enjoy sheepdog displays, pony and horse riding or experience falconry displays. You can choose to hire a Segway or go quad biking or simply hire a bike to discover the Tarka Trail. Foodie highlights for all the family include a choice of traditional fish and chip shops on the quay, Devon ice cream and the art of chocolate making at Ilfracombe’s Chocolate Emporium.

We offer early dining and have a Kids Restaurant Menu, as well as all our Brasserie menu. The hotel has superfast broadband connectivity and WiFi throughout. There’s plenty of space in our ground floor lounges and even a gym and treatment room if you need to prepare or unwind after your day out. A freshly cooked breakfast is included in our rates, plus cereals, juices, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

Flexibility
When you book direct your stay is truly flexible, without any penalty charges, at The Carlton. Modify, alter, cancel and change your booking up to two days out or as close as 48 hours prior to your arrival time. Please note, a group booking, which is made up of more than than four rooms or eight guests, is subject to different terms and conditions.
Our family stayed at The Carlton for a weekend break. We went to a wedding at Tunnel Beaches and chose this hotel as it was very close to it. Tunnel Beaches is literally a 2 minute walk away. The hotel is excellent in every way. It is very well run by Michael and his team, it’s clean and modern. The food in the restaurant is really good, we ate breakfast lunch and dinner here, all the food was excellent. Thank you Michael and your lovely team, keep up the good work.
